Since acquiring an Axe-Fx Ultra, I've been unable to cleanly switch between using the Axe-Fx as a preamp and the preamp section of my Sherlock Fathead...
Allegedly, the output (2) of the Axe-fx can be routed to the input of an amp head (it's on the Fractal wiki page) and the input and output 1 are used as send/return to the amp head. Like many others, I tried this and it was noisy and changed the sound of the FATHEAD
Until now.
If you set the levels as suggested by Cliff Chase in the Axe forum and have all the dials on the front of the unit set to around 1 o'clock it's SWEET.
Now I can put effects like compression and octave in front of the Fathead, which sounds obese!
Cool new sound clips are forthcoming ;-)
